Tom Arthur

General Surgeon

Dr Tom Arthur is a highly accomplished Specialist Colorectal Surgeon, bringing a blend of advanced surgical training, dedicated advocacy, and academic excellence to his practice. His commitment to patient care is underpinned by a rigorous educational background and a passion for advancing the field of colorectal surgery.

Dr Arthur recently completed the prestigious colorectal surgery training program administered by the Australia and New Zealand Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery. This intensive two-year program included pivotal clinical appointments at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne and Gold Coast University Hospital. He was awarded Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019.

He is active in clinical research as both Co-ordinating Principal Investigator and Associate Investigator on several studies and was founding Chair of the Queensland Surgical Trainee (QUEST) Collaboration. He has held academic positions with Griffith University and the University of Queensland and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern Queensland. Dr Arthur has played a significant role in medical education through events such as the Junior Doctor Conference and the RACS Annual Scientific Congress.

Dr Arthur consults at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital and specialises in advanced colorectal care, with a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes through research and innovation.
