Peter O’Donohue

General Surgeon

Dr Peter O’Donohue is a Specialist General Surgeon with subspecialty training in Breast Cancer, Melanoma, and Oncoplastic Surgery.

He consults and operates privately at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital and is a full member of Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ). Dr O’Donohue also holds a public appointment as a Consultant General Surgeon at Toowoomba Base Hospital and provides outreach surgical services to Kingaroy Hospital. He actively participates in regional multi-disciplinary team meetings, valuing collaborative care with local medical specialists.

Raised in Maryborough, Dr O’Donohue relocated to Brisbane, completing a Bachelor of Science (Biomedicine) at the University of Queensland in 2005. He earned his MBBS from Griffith University in 2009, followed by a Masters of Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Newcastle in 2012. In 2020, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

He completed advanced surgical training in Queensland and pursued post-fellowship training in acute general surgery at Townsville University Hospital and endocrine surgery at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He then undertook BreastSurgANZ training at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Auckland City Hospital.

Dr O’Donohue is a CCrISP® Instructor for the Royal College of Surgeons and participates in the BreastSurgANZ Quality Audit. Known for his honest, calm approach, he is committed to delivering modern, high-quality breast and oncology surgical care to Toowoomba and the Darling Downs region.
