Joel Collins
Clinical Haematologist
Dr Joel Collins is a consultant Clinical Haematologist managing all blood disorders, including blood cancers, abnormal blood counts, bleeding disorders, and clotting disorders. He has a particular interest in iron deficiencies in women and children, and other vitamin deficiencies affecting the blood system.
Dr Collins completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Griffith University, Queensland, and achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians following advanced training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He was also Chief Medical Registrar at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
He is credentialled at St Andrew’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, and the Toowoomba Hospice. Passionate about delivering care locally, Dr Collins works closely with the oncology staff at St Andrew’s to provide treatment for high-grade haematological cancers in Toowoomba.
Dr Collins has published research in local and international journals and has presented at national conferences. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland’s Rural Clinical School and a member of HSANZ, ALLG, ASH, and EHA.
