Dr Sheila Cook

Dr Sheila Cook is a highly experienced Endocrinologist and Obstetric Physician with more than 25 years of medical expertise and a longstanding commitment to advancing endocrine and diabetes care across the Darling Downs. She is recognised for her holistic, patient-centred approach and for working collaboratively with general practitioners, allied health professionals, and specialist teams to achieve optimal outcomes. Dr Cook graduated from the University of Queensland in 1996, receiving the University Medal for the highest academic achievement. She completed specialist training in Endocrinology and Obstetric Medicine at leading Brisbane hospitals, including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, before relocating to Toowoomba as the region’s first Consultant Endocrinologist. Throughout her career, Dr Cook has held significant leadership and academic roles, including Director of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Toowoomba Hospital and Deputy Director of the Rural Clinical School. She has established key services such as diabetes-in-pregnancy and outreach programs, strengthening access to specialist care for regional communities. Dr Cook is also actively involved in research, medical education, and national professional organisations. Dr Cook consults privately at Toowoomba Endocrine & Diabetes in Toowoomba and operates at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital.
