Dr Shameer Ahmed
Electrophysiologist
Dr Shameer Ahmed is a specialist Cardiologist consulting at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital, providing expert assessment, diagnosis and management of a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. He completed his medical degree and specialist cardiology training internationally before gaining Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Dr Ahmed combines advanced procedural skills with a patient-centred approach, ensuring clear communication and shared decision-making throughout care. Completing his advanced training in Cardiology in the United Kingdom and the United States of America, Dr Ahmed worked in a large tertiary multispecialty hospital in Pennsylvania for several years. Working within a team of 30 cardiologists, Dr Ahmed trained in Transthoracic and Transoesophageal Echocardiograms, Nuclear Cardiology and Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterizations. After his Cardiology training, he commenced his fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Penn State University Hospital, Hershey. Dr Ahmed then moved to Australia to continue his cardiology training completing a further two and half year Fellowship in Electrophysiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in 2016. Dr Ahmed’s skills strengthen the team of Cardiologists at St Andrew’s, supporting the Hospital’s 24-hour, 7 day a week comprehensive cardiology service. He plays an integral role in the on-call Cardiologist’s roster for the Hospital.
