Dr Leo Zeller

Dr Leo Zeller is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon and Toowoomba’s only qualified orthopaedic spine surgeon, delivering specialist care for spinal and general orthopaedic conditions. He is a Co-Director of the Centre of Orthopaedic Excellence at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital. He has more than two decades of surgical experience in both public and private sectors and has served as Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at Toowoomba Health Services. He also holds a senior visiting spinal surgery appointment with the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Dr Zeller combines a deep clinical understanding with a patient-centred approach, prioritising functional outcomes, mobility and quality of life for his patients. Dr Zeller’s extensive training includes advanced fellowship experience in clinical spinal surgery at the University of British Columbia, Canada, where he developed expertise in complex spinal procedures. His broad orthopaedic practice spans trauma, joint replacement, corrective spinal surgery and spinal instrumentation. His approach emphasises multidisciplinary teamwork, clear communication and tailored surgical plans designed to meet each patient’s clinical needs, whether for spine-related conditions or broader orthopaedic issues. Dr Zeller consults and operates at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital and other local hospital facilities. He also maintains private practice suite access in the region to support outpatient assessments and surgical planning.
