Dr Homayoun Jalali

Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Dr Homayoun Jalali is a highly experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon providing advanced cardiac and thoracic surgical care. He completed his medical degree with honours at the University of Liège (Belgium) and undertook specialist cardiothoracic training in Belgium, followed by further fellowships in congenital cardiothoracic surgery in the United Kingdom and United States. Since relocating to Australia in the late 1990s, he has practised widely in Queensland and holds multiple consultant appointments. Dr Jalali’s clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of cardiothoracic surgery with a focus on repairing heart valves and major blood vessels, congenital heart disease, and conditions such as atrial fibrillation. He has successfully introduced and performed advanced procedures, including personalised external aortic root support (PEARS) for patients with aortic disease, and is recognised for both complex open and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. In addition to his clinical roles, Dr Jalali has held academic appointments, including Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, and contributes to ongoing cardiothoracic education and professional leadership. He is affiliated with multiple professional societies including the Australian & New Zealand Society of Cardio and Thoracic Surgeons and the Cardiac Society of Australia & New Zealand. Dr Jalali consults at Queensland Heart & Lung Surgery, serving patients through regional outreach including St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital, He also maintains appointments at major cardiac centres in Brisbane.
