Dr Haakan Jakobsson

Dr Haakan Jakobsson is a Consultant Medical Oncologist providing expert diagnosis and management of a wide range of solid organ cancers. Dr Jakobsson completed his medical training in Queensland with experience in both regional and tertiary hospital settings, including time at The Alfred Hospital where he worked within the clinical trials sector analysing molecular tumour targets for emerging cancer therapies. His training and clinical interests particularly encompass precision oncology, molecular testing, immunotherapy, and managing associated treatment complications. He adopts a collaborative, patient-centred approach, working closely with surgeons, radiation oncologists, haematologists, general practitioners and allied health professionals to develop comprehensive, personalised care plans. Dr Jakobsson accepts referrals for all cancer streams, with a special focus on melanoma, skin, thoracic (chest) and genitourinary (kidney, bladder, prostate) cancers. Dr Jakobsson practices at the Toowoomba Haematology and Oncology Clinic at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital, offering both outpatient consultations and coordinated inpatient care for patients in the Darling Downs region.
