Dr Gonesh Karmakar is a highly experienced Respiratory, Sleep & General Physician consulting in Toowoomba. He graduated from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh in 1990 and completed extensive clinical training including residency in New Zealand. Dr Karmakar gained Fellowship in Internal Medicine in 2008 and Fellowship in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in 2009 through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, reflecting advanced expertise in respiratory and sleep disorders. Dr Karmakar provides patient-centred care with a strong focus on comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management of lung and sleep conditions. He also holds an honorary appointment as a Senior Lecturer with the Rural Medical School, Toowoomba and the University of Queensland, supporting medical education in the region. Dr Karmakar’s practice encompasses both acute and chronic respiratory disease management and sleep medicine, helping people with conditions that affect breathing, lung health and sleep quality. Dr Karmakar’s approach integrates evidence-based practice with clear communication and multidisciplinary teamwork, ensuring coordinated care plans that support long-term respiratory and sleep health for individuals across the Darling Downs region. Dr Karmakar consults patients from his rooms at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital.
