Dr Evan Willingham

Dr Evan Willingham is an Australian-trained general and bariatric surgeon with extensive experience in minimally invasive and metabolic surgery. He graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery before initially working in general practice, where he developed a strong appreciation for holistic, patient-centred care. He later returned to specialist training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2006. Dr Willingham has been performing general and weight-loss surgery in Toowoomba since 2009 and was the first surgeon in the region to introduce minimally invasive keyhole techniques for bariatric procedures. He is recognised as a leading contributor to the Bariatric Surgery Registry, reflecting his commitment to quality outcomes and ongoing clinical improvement. A laparoscopic and robotic surgeon, Dr Willingham provides comprehensive care across obesity, metabolic, and gastrointestinal conditions, supporting patients through every stage of their treatment journey with a multidisciplinary approach. Dr Willingham consults from the Downs Specialist Centre in East Toowoomba. He performs procedures at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital.
