Dr Caleb Mengel

Dr Caleb Mengel is a specialist Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist providing advanced care for patients with heart rhythm disorders and other cardiac conditions across the Darling Downs. Growing up in Dalby, then Toowoomba has given him a passion for providing world class care to his local community. He completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland before undertaking advanced cardiology training and a dedicated electrophysiology fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. Since returning to his hometown of Toowoomba, Dr Mengel has practised both publicly and privately and holds an appointment as an Associate Lecturer at the University of Queensland, contributing to the education of future doctors. Dr Mengel is known for his expertise in diagnosing and treating arrhythmias and for performing implantations of cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. He applies evidence-based practice and personalised care, working collaboratively with referring clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes. His work in rhythm management has included procedures using emerging technologies that enhance safety and recovery for patients locally. Specifically, Dr Mengel has partnered with St Andrews Hospital to bring leadless pacing, conduction system pacing, and AF ablation with electroporation (pulsed field ablation) to the Darling Downs. Dr Mengel provides both outpatient cardiology assessments and procedural care, offering access to advanced heart rhythm management close to home for patients in Toowoomba and the surrounding region.
