Dr Austin Zimbwa

Dr Truman Austin Zimbwa is an experienced Specialist Gastroenterologist providing comprehensive, patient-focused care for a wide range of digestive and liver conditions. He has proudly served the Darling Downs community since 2013, offering both public and private gastroenterology services grounded in clinical excellence, safety, and evidence-based practice. After graduating with his medical degree in 1994, Dr Zimbwa undertook advanced specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine in the United Kingdom. He gained extensive experience across major tertiary and regional hospitals before practising as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Dr Zimbwa provides comprehensive assessment and management of gastrointestinal and liver disorders, including interventional gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Panccreatography. He is committed to clear communication, careful evaluation, and tailored treatment planning, working closely with general practitioners and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes. He admits and manages patients at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital, where he provides coordinated inpatient care and access to high-quality endoscopic services within a modern clinical environment.
