Dr Ashleigh Heron
Physician (General)
Dr Ashleigh Heron is a General Medicine Physician at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital. After completing her medical degree at Griffith University, Dr Heron undertook her clinical training in various hospitals across southeast Queensland, with a significant portion of her training at Toowoomba Hospital and some of the rural hospitals in the Toowoomba catchment. This experience has given her an appreciation of the challenges of providing healthcare in these rural communities. She is proud to serve the Darling Downs region as part of the Queensland Specialist Physicians group. Dr Heron is passionate about managing chronic diseases, with a particular focus on cardiac, renal and rheumatologic conditions. She also has a special interest in palliative care, focusing on symptom management and end-of-life planning. Additionally, her completion of a Graduate Diploma in Public Health and Tropical Medicine has strengthened her expertise in infectious disease management and antimicrobial stewardship. Dr Heron is also committed to medical education. She has embraced leadership opportunities throughout her career, including teaching and coordinating clinical exams, and continues to be involved in training and mentoring future healthcare professionals. Dr Heron provides both inpatient and outpatient care at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital. Her approach to medicine is focused on patient-centred care, providing the best possible outcomes through collaboration, education, and evidence-based practice.
