Purpose-built care in a supportive environment
At the heart of our Cancer Care Centre is the John Stedman Day Oncology Unit, a modern, purpose-built facility designed to deliver high-quality cancer treatment in a calm, welcoming environment.
Located on the ground floor of Building 4 at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital, the unit has the capacity to treat up to 25 patients at any one time, ensuring timely access to care while maintaining a personalised and unhurried experience.
The unit delivers a wide range of medical oncology and haematology treatments, including:
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy
- Targeted therapies
- Blood transfusions
- Supportive cancer treatments
Care is delivered by a highly experienced team of oncology nurses, supported by oncologists, haematologists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals who work closely together to ensure safety, comfort, and continuity of care.

The John Stedman Day Oncology Unit has been thoughtfully designed to prioritise patient comfort, privacy, and dignity. Treatment spaces are light-filled and spacious, with access to supportive services that help patients feel at ease during longer treatment sessions.

- A dedicated Oncology Pharmacy team
- Cancer Care Coordinators
- Specialist breast, prostate, and community liaison nurses
- Allied health, wellness, and support services within the broader Cancer Care Centre

- Radiation Oncology, including advanced linear accelerator technology
- Diagnostic and screening services with priority access to imaging and pathology
- Inpatient Cancer Care services when overnight care is required
- Wellness, rehabilitation, and recovery programs through Hope Horizons
Patients receiving care through the Cancer Care Centre will also have access to a 24/7 Cancer Care Support Hotline, providing reassurance, expert guidance, and continuity beyond hospital walls.
